To tell a story about The Simple Farm and its impact, to me, would be to tell about the people behind the farm. If I were to say one thing about Michael and Lylah, it would be that they are of the rare few who I have seen time and time again truly live and act according to their word. They have taught me many things over the years: to be generous, loving, thoughtfully caring, passionate about Jesus, and many more; but their greatest influence has been through their genuine lovingkindness to others without distinction, and their integrity of action according to their spoken values. Their impact on the community around them has been truly incredible to observe.

From those beginning farmers markets, to the workshop classes, and now their evening farm dinners, Michael and Lylah have always had their door open to the community. They encourage health for mind, body, and spirit, and they do such a wonderful job at creating the space for that. As soon as I step foot on the farm there is a peace and connectedness that resides there, coaxing me to join in and be present, to slow down and connect with others, with nature, with God. It's grounding in a way that is oft overlooked in our busy lives, but so very important.

Their intentionality and purposeful connection with others is inspiring. I know that no matter how busy the day is, Lylah will always have a moment to give a hug and connect with me. Whenever her gentle eyes meet mine I am convinced she sees into the heart of me, and it's such a comforting, motherly gaze. And I know for certain she gives that gaze to many many others like me who have had the blessing of meeting her. Michael is a testament to cultivating daily joy; it is usually very easy to find him on the farm because he is always singing or whistling while he works. Whenever I'm troubled he always has an encouraging word and some life wisdom to share, and his joy is contagious even in the midst of struggle.
Every time I come to the farm it strikes me that they’re just living their own life, and yet, out of the genuine love they have for others and for Jesus, they have opened their lives and home at every opportunity to the ministry and care of people. And it is incredible to see that impact on so many individuals who came for the farm, but left with Jesus.

In my life rarely have I seen those who live each and every day with such a mindset of loving others and quiet faithfulness to bringing Jesus into the center. Michael and Lylah are a compelling example that convicts me to live as faithfully as they: To the witness of our personal integrity and according to the fruit of the Spirit.

My husband and I got married at the farm and Michael officiated the wedding. I am very grateful for their presence in my life <3
